Wine Dinner Blog 2

Name: El Pensador

Grape Variety: Tempranillo

Country: Spain

Region: Campo De Borja

Vintage Year: 2019

Price: $9.99

Review: This wine was interesting because it started out seeming like it was going to be sweet, but had a dry finish. It was a light wine considering it was red. However, it seemed like the fullest of the three wines. It tasted of cherry and blackberry, or dark red fruits. It made the mouth pucker a little, thereby signifying tannins. Since this wine had the fullest body and dark red fruit flavors, it paired best with the dessert of banana, chocolate chip muffin tops. The rich flavors complimented each other nicely.

Name: Washington Hills

Grape Variety: Reisling

Country: United States

Region: Washington

Vintage Year: 2021

Price: $7.99

Review: This wine was interesting because the label says it is a dry riesling, however, I felt it was the sweetest of the three wines. It tasted light and refreshing, with hints of green grape and honey. Since it was served cold, it tasted crisp. It paired best with the cucumbers and hummus as the refreshing flavors of the cucumbers and wine complimented each other well. This wine ended up being my favorite of the three.

Name: Baby

Grape Variety: glera

Country: Italy

Region: Veneto

Vintage Year: ??

Price: $9.95

Review: This wine was a little drier than the Washington Riesling, but it had a refreshing taste because it is sparkling and was served cold. It tasted of green apples and green grapes, giving it a crisp flavor that paired really nicely with the pasta salad. The pasta salad was tossed in olive oil and lemon, giving it a refreshing flavor that paired nicely with the bubbles in this wine.

These are the banana chocolate chip muffins that paired best with the full flavors of the El Pensador red wine.
This is the cucumber and spinach/artichoke hummus that paired best with the Washington Riesling.

This is the pasta salad with avocado, tomato, chicken, basil, olive oil, and lemon juice that paired best with the Baby Prosecco.
Here is a picture of the dinner except for the banana chocolate chip muffin tops because they were still in the oven! My roommate and I got to enjoy tasting everything together. Such a nice way to spend a Sunday afternoon!
