Winery Visit: Beliveau Farm Winery

This week my friends and I went to Beliveau Farm Winery! We tried to get a tour, but apparently the owner has been having health issues and does not do tours right now. I hope that does not affect my grade too much!

This is the first picture I took when we got to the winery! There was a little bit of rain when we first got there, but it cleared up quickly!
This is a picture of the barrels at the front door. They are wood barrels which are usually used to age wine. You cannot see it in the picture, but there is a bunghole in the side of the barrel that can be used to easily access the wine. It is plugged by a cork when the barrel is full and holding wine.

This is the library wines the winery had right inside the front door. They change these wines every so often, but they have a tasting that is based on these.

The semi-sweet tasting is the one I choose to do while we were there.

Crown Jewel '18: This wine was only semi-sweet with a crisp, peach/nectar taste. The tannins were not too strong as my mouth did not pucker a whole lot with sips of the wine.

Discovery 'NV: This wine had a smell that we all agreed reminded us of gasoline. It was not bad, just strong. The taste of the wine is sweet and has strong fruit flavors of pear. It is a light wine that does not have a lot of tannins.

Warm Glow 'NV: This wine seemed fairly sweet. It had a fruity, strawberry and cherry flavor. This wine seemed to have higher tannins than the others because it made my mouth pucker.

Blacksburg Blush 'NV: The last wine was the sweetest of all four. It was light on tannins and did not really make my mouth pucker which surprised me because it is a red. The wine had fruity strawberry and cranberry flavors.
These are the four wines I tried, in order with #1 at top and then #4 at the bottom.

After we tried our wines, we went to play corn-hole! Karina and I won ;)

I took this picture of Sam drinking his last glass of wine, then absolutely crushed him in corn-hole. He had a very orange-looking wine!

Overall the winery was a great experience! Karina, Kyle and I all tried the same wines, so we got to talk through what we thought about each of them and the flavors. I can't wait until we can go back again!
